Rule of thumb

The EURCZK price is a direct product of the EURUSD and USDCZK currency prices

As typically it is the US data releases that move the currency markets of the globe, the EURCZK may be less volatile, in such circumstances, than the markets where the US dollar is present

The EURCZK rate represents the value of one euro in terms of Czech korunas. The Euro (EUR) is the official currency of the eurozone, introduced to the financial markets for the first time in 1999. Since that time, the euro has become the second most important currency in the world after the US Dollar, with a 40% share in the global turnover on the foreign exchange market.

The Czech Koruna (CZK) is the currency of the Czech Republic (since 1993 - previously Czechoslovak koruna), and is expected to be substituted by the euro in the coming years.  However, the official date of such a transition has been subject to several discussions and postponed.

The main factors influencing the prices on the EURCZK currency pair, apart from the economic events in the  euro zone and the Czech Republic, is the situation on the EURUSD market.

As the EURCZK price is a direct product of the EURUSD and USDCZK quotations, events that relate to the US dollar, such as economic news releases from the United States, may also have some impact. This results from the fact that in such a case the euro and Czech koruna do not necessarily need to react in the same way in respect to the US dollar. In other words, the market reaction in respect to the US dollar may be different in the case of the euro (reflected by the EURUSD price) and Czech koruna (visible on the USDCZK market).
