DAX Index can be considered as the most important stock exchange index in the euro area due to the economic importance of Germany
Rule of thumb
DAX can be considered as the most important index in the euro area. It has a significant impact on the value of the euro
DAX (Deutscher Aktien Index 30) was introduced by 30 December 1987 with a base value of 1,000 points and is a growth index of thirty companies with the highest quality and most liquid (blue-chip) shares, traded on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
Whereas Germany has been one of the members of the euro area with the highest GDP growth for a long time, this index with the highest market capitalization on the international market, has naturally significant importance.
Its importance is reflected in the fact, that companies in the DAX index represent 75% of the German market capitalization and the high performance of the DAX sectors includes automotive, chemical, consumer, pharmaceutical and healthcare sector. Less powerful sectors include construction, software and technology sector.
